Georgia to Host Its First International Paragliding Competition
This summer marks a historic milestone for Georgian aviation. For the first time, Georgia will host an international FAI Category 2 cross-country paragliding competition, welcoming pilots from across Europe, Asia and beyond to compete in the spectacular Caucasus Mountains.
Following the success of the Sakartvelo Open Cup 2024, Georgia's first national paragliding championship, the sport has taken another major step forward. The Caucasus Open Series – Gudauri Edition 2026 transforms what was once a domestic competition into an internationally recognised event, placing Georgia on the global competition calendar for the first time.
From 30 August to 3 September 2026, Gudauri will welcome up to 100 pilots from around 20 countries, competing in one of Europe's most dramatic alpine flying environments. The event is officially sanctioned as an FAI Category 2 competition, making it the highest-level international paragliding event ever organised in Georgia.
